A single wash is usually $3–6 depending on machine size, and drying runs $2–4 for a full cycle, so an average load costs about $8–12. Large 40–80 lb machines for comforters cost $8–12 per wash. Wash-and-fold drop-off is priced by weight, typically $1.25–2.50 per pound with a 10–20 lb minimum.

Are laundromats open 24 hours?

Many are. Unattended card-operated stores often run around the clock, while attended stores usually open at 6–7am and close at 9–10pm. Even at 24-hour locations the last full wash-and-dry needs about two hours, and attended stores stop accepting new loads 60–90 minutes before closing.

Do laundromats take credit cards?

More and more do. Newer stores run on a laundry card or a phone app such as PayRange or CleanPay, and some accept a debit card straight at the machine. Older neighborhood stores are still coins only — they normally keep a change machine, but card-operated stores often do not, so carry quarters if you are not sure.

How long does laundry take at a laundromat?

A wash cycle is 25–35 minutes and a dryer cycle is 30–45, so plan on about 90 minutes for one load start to finish. The advantage of a laundromat is running six machines at once — a full week of laundry for a family takes roughly the same 90 minutes as a single load.
